When I was in high school I had the unfortunate experience where I tried to dye my blonde hair red and it turned carrot orange. That was pretty horrible, until everyone at school thought it was cool and loved it, so it turned out great.
I also had a series of bad days when I decided to use castor oil on my hair and couldn't manage to get the oil out of my hair. I had an oil slick for hair on top of my head for close to a week. I tried everything to get that castor oil off.
Cornstarch finally worked, but I had to do cornstarch applications multiple times to get all the oil soaked up and off my hair.
Even when my hair was free of castor oil, I still keep thinking it was oily.
When my hair was coated with castor oil I didn't want to wear any headgear because I was afraid the castor oil might stain my favorite caps. So I wound up just wearing it completely slicked down. Not my favorite look, but I was trying to make the best of a bad hair situation.
