I think it comes down to the commercialization of beauty. Beauty is no longer a state of mind or standard appearance, but a marketing campaign. When a woman sees all these TV shows, movies, ads, magazine covers featuring women with thick hair, flawless skin, the perfect body, the best clothing... Well, they get sold on THAT being beauty. Beauty isn't something you can buy or sell but because of the way this world has become so materialistic, so many women and girls believe that lie.
As for the subject at hand, yes, they have become hard to please in the sense of being thankful for God has given them!
